04/21/14 – “Sandy”-Hound Mix Available at Hart County Humane Society

SandyIt’s always heartbreaking when we see a dog sitting at the spot where it had been abandoned. They will wait for their human to come back for them, but they never do.

That loyalty nearly cost this dog her life. She was nearly dead when someone finally spotted her laying alongside a creek bed. As a compassionate angel sat with her trying to find a way to help the poor dog, a veterinarian drove by and spotted them both.

The severely underweight dog was taken to Royston Animal Hospital where she would receive a blood transfusion, IV fluids along with a lot of care and love. The dog now named Sandy is a sweet and gentle Walker Hound mix. When first rescued she weighed 28 pounds, one month later she now weighs 44 pounds and is healthy.

Sandy is spayed, micro chipped, heart worm negative and up to date with vaccinations and parasite preventatives. If you would like more information please call 706-436-0965 or email [email protected].  The Hart County Humane Society is grateful for those who don’t drive by an animal in distress but stop to offer help.  Even a call to the sheriff’s department for animal control is a rescue call.
