Lynn Allen Says Good-bye to Industrial Building Authority

Lynn Allen says she has a long bucket list now that she’s retired from her role as the Franklin County Industrial Building Authority Director.

A special day long, drop in reception was held Wednesday for Allen on her last official day at work.  Allen says while she will miss her job at the Industrial Building Authority, she has a lot on her “to do” list.

“I’ve got some mixed emotions,” she said. “I love this job; great people to work with, but I have some things in my personal life that I have to attend to and as long as I was working here, I just wasn’t getting them done.”

Some of the immediate tasks at hand, Allen said, include researching her family tree and spending more time with her grandchildren.  She said she and her husband also plan to do a little traveling next year.

Allen served as the Industrial Building Authority Director for nine years and says even though she’s retired, there are certain areas she plans to remain involved in.

“I want to also stay involved with Workforce Development, working with North Georgia Tech and the school system. I just think that is so important. I don’t want to be a couch potato, I do want to stay involved and that’s an area I plan to pursue.”

Allen said also plans to do some volunteering with the Chamber.  Allen is succeeded by former Franklin County manager and current State Senator Frank Ginn.

“Certainly I’m going to continue working with Frank and help where I can,” Allen said. “He’s got a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of good ideas and a lot of good contacts. He’s a sponge. He picks things up very quickly. He’s very inquisitive and he asks great questions. I think he’ll do a great job for the county.”

Ginn has actually been on the job training since July, working with Allen

Part of Wednesday’s drop in reception included a special cake and ice cream event Wednesday afternoon at the Chamber and IBA office.
