In Banks County, a suspect wanted in connection with a home invasion earlier this month has been captured in Baton Rouge Louisiana.

According to Banks County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Carissa McFaddin, Jackson Lewis Sanders was arrested there over the weekend.

“We have confirmation that our home invasion suspect from July 17, Jackson Lewis Sanders, has been arrested in Baton Rouge, Lousiana. Sanders is currently facing charges with their jurisdiction,” McFaddin said Monday.

McFaddin said Banks County Sheriff’s office was notified Monday of Sanders’ arrest in Baton Rouge.

On July 17, Banks County deputies responded to a residence on Highway 59 near Industrial Drive in reference to a possible home invasion.

When deputies arrived at the residence, authorities found the suspect had fled the scene.

Throughout the early morning hours of the 17th, Banks County authorities searched for Sanders with the help of the Georgia State Patrol, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Commerce Police Department, and Lee Arrendale Corrections K9 Unit.

However, by mid-morning

the search was called off and McFaddin said it is believed Sanders was able to escape in a vehicle and has fled the area.

A lookout was then placed for Sanders who was believed to be with a female in a stolen vehicle.

McFaddin said now that Sanders has been found and arrested, he will be returned to Georgia.

“Once he makes bond from those charges, we will extradite him and bring him back to Banks County where he will face the charge of armed robbery,” McFaddin said.

McFaddin said Sanders is also facing other charges in Georgia.
