Banks County Shooting Victims Identified

Banks County authorities have released the names of the two men, shot to death Sunday.

According to Banks County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt Carrissa McFaddin, the men were brothers.

They are identified as 48-year old Allen Sears, of Commerce and 67-year old William Sears, of Baldwin.

The shootings happened about 1:30p Sunday afternoon at a home in the 2300 block of Georgia Highway 198.  McFaddin said the shootings appear to have been the result of an argument.

“Deputies responded Sunday to a report of a double shooting,” said Banks County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Carissa McFaddin. “Upon arrival, deputies were met by family members who advised that two male subjects were involved in a domestic dispute where a firearm had been used. Deputies found that both male subjects were deceased at the scene.”

Family members who witnessed the incident told investigators that during the altercation, Allen Sears shot William Sears and then turned the gun on himself.
