Boil Water Advisory in Effect in Parts of Lavonia

A boil water advisory is in effect for Lavonia water customers in the Bowman St. area due to a water main break Monday.

Water customers from upper Bowman St. to Stonebrook to Vickery St. should continue to boil their water until further notice, according to Lavonia City Manager Gary Fesperman.

“Customers in those areas may see a little discoloration in their water from sediment that got stirred up in the lines when we reactivated it,” Fesperman said.  There’s nothing wrong with the water, but we do recommend that you boil your water for at least two minutes before using it for cooking or for baby needs.”

Fesperman said anytime a water line is taken out of service, the State Environmental Protection Division requires the city issue a boil water advisory.

“As soon as the EPD gives us clearance to lift the boil water advisory, we will issue a statement with the radio station,” he said.
