Bowman Making Improvements to Downtown Square

The town of Bowman is moving forward with plans to make improvements to the downtown area.

At a recent City Council meeting, the council approved a project to fix crumbling sidewalks by replacing it with pavers, according to a report in the Elberton Star.

The City will pay Georgia Imery Homes LLC $30,000 to do the work.

Under the plan, the current sidewalks will be removed and new sidewalks and pavers installed.

Electricians will also install new wiring and receptacles for the existing street lights and four handicap access points will be put in along Public Square.

Work is expected to be completed by next week, weather permitting.
In other business, Bowman Mayor Clay Rooker suggested the town also sell its disc golf equipment which was purchased by a previous administration.
Rooker pointed out that the City has no plans to build a disc golf course any time soon and a local church was interested in purchasing the equipment.
Councilman Dick Barber however suggested the City get feedback from citizens before selling the equipment to the church.
Anyone interested in voicing their opinion on the disc golf equipment sale should contact Bowman City Hall during regular business hours.
