Comer Man Pleads Guilty to Armed Robbery, Shooting in Elbert County

In Elbert County, a Comer man charged in connection with a 2014 armed robbery and shooting will spend the next 20 years behind bars.

Northern Judicial Circuit District Attorney Parks White said 22-year old Ricky Allen DuBose of Comer, GA  plead guilty Tuesday in Superior Court to one count of armed robbery with 20 years to serve and 20 years on probation.

According to Elbert County Sheriff’s investigators, in September 2014, DuBose and an accomplice identified as 27-year old Darrell Monteford of Athens, approached a man, brandished a gun and then robbed him of his wallet.

They then shot the victim in the hand.

The victim was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and later released.  Both suspects were eventually arrested after the victim was able to identify DuBose.

They were each charged with Armed Robby, Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Burglary in the 1st Degree.

White said DuBose is a repeat offender with eight prior felony convictions and has served time in state prison for burglary and armed robbery in surrounding counties.

White said, meantime, DuBose’s alleged accomplice Darrell Monteford is still awaiting trial.
