Demorest Woman Killed in Fatal Wreck Near Carnesville
A fatal wreck near Carnesville Wednesday took the life of a Demorest woman on her 20th birthday.
It happened about 12:30p Wednesday on SR164/Bold Springs Road.
According to a spokesmen for Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa, 20-year old Carlye Elrod died after losing control of her 2003 Pontiac Sunfire.
Troopers tell Access North Georgia Elrod was driving north on Georgia 164 when she suddenly lost control of the vehicle, overcorrected, and skidded over 200 feet before hitting two trees with the driver’s side of the car.
Trooper 1st Class Oneal Sadler said Elrod was killed on impact. Sadler said Elrod was not wearing a seatbelt, but he said it likely would not have made a difference.
Troopers say alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the wreck.
