Emmanuel College Takes Swimming Championship

Emmanuel College continues to collect championships, their newest in swimming.

The EC Men’s Swimming team won their first Conference Championship over the weekend with the Women’s team coming in 2nd place.

On the final day of the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships, held in Christiansburg, VA, the EC men won all 6 events, set 6 school records, 4 conference records, earned 7 NCAA Div. II national qualifying times, and finished 1st in the team standings by 156 points to win their first Conference Championships.

Swimmers for EC set conference records in the 200 fly the 200 backstroke, the 100 freestyle, and the 400 free relay.

Head swim coach, Allen Gilchrest said he could not be more proud of his guys, and that they had worked very hard for the honor of winning a conference championship.

The Lions swim team will now travel to Annapolis, Maryland to compete in the ECAC Men’s Open Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held the first weekend of March.
