GDOT Plans Routine Maintenance on State Routes This Week

The Georgia Department of Transportation announces routine maintenance activities planned this week in Banks, Elbert, Franklin, Hart, Madison and Stephens Counties.

Franklin – A crew will mow the shoulders and slopes alongside SR 174 and SR 51. The shoulders will be closed as this work occurs.

Hart –A crew will clean and restore ditches alongside SR 51, SR 77 Spur, SR 172 and SR 77. Work will close the shoulder and one lane.

Stephens – A crew spray overgrown vegetation in the rights of way alongside SR 365. The shoulder will be closed as this work occurs.

Banks – A crew repair the driving surface of the SR 59 Bridge over the Hudson River, a lane will be closed as this work occurs. Another crew will be removing and replacing damaged asphalt on SR 15, a lane will be closed as this work occurs. The shoulders alongside SR 51 and SR 63 will also be repaired requiring a lane closure.

Elbert – A crew will trim vegetation growing alongside SR 77 and SR 72. This work requires the shoulders to be closed

Madison – A crew clean and restore ditches alongside SR 174 and SR 98. A lane and the shoulder will be closed as this work occurs.

Most activities will only require shoulder or median lane closures. This is a tentative schedule; if emergency response is needed at a crash scene or if emergency repairs are necessary this schedule will change.

Crews will work through Friday, July 24 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. if weather permits.

Lane closures are required for patching asphalt, a flagman or pilot vehicle will direct traffic through the work zone.
