Gov. Deal Says All Counties in GA are Camera Ready

Gov. Nathan Deal and the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office, a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development say all 159 Georgia counties have been designated Camera Ready.

The state’s Camera Ready Community Program is the first of its kind in the nation, making Georgia the leader in offering a community-based production assistance program.

The program is a special designation given to participating Georgia communities interested in cultivating and attracting the entertainment industry.

Camera Ready communities name liaisons who can assist film and television production companies on a local level.

In Franklin County, Royston DDA Executive Director Candy Rhoades said Royston is part of Georgia’s Camera Ready Program and often submits photos of locations for possible movie and TV shoots.

Over the summer, she said the old Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston was used to shoot scenes for a new TV sitcom.
Rhoades tells WLHR News the cast and crew were very happy with the location in Royston.
And in Hart County, a crew from the Country Music Network is currently wrapping a month long shoot of a new reality TV show on Lake Hartwell.
Hart County is also on the State’s Camera Ready list and Hart County Chamber Director Nicki Meyer said she often gets emails regarding sites for possible TV or movie shoots.
Meyer said having a major TV network come to Hartwell is great exposure for the entire community.
“It’s great for our community. Like I said, it let’s Los Angeles and film people see what Hart County has to offer, and they are really impressed with it. I threw all sorts of things at them in the sense of you want a farm location, we have a dirt track, we have two dirt tracks, you know, take them out to the speedway. The opportunity to do all sorts of things here are very broad.”
Established in 2010, the state’s Camera Ready Community Program is designed to develop and sustain the burgeoning film and television industry by offering production companies access to local resources and information.
