Governor Deal Issues Fireworks Ban in North Georgia

As the Extreme Drought continues in North Georgia, Governor Nathan Deal is taking action to ensure no other wildfires will be set over the holiday weekend.

Normally, many people will set off fireworks during a holiday weekend, especially those who live on the lake.

But on Tuesday, Deal issued an executive order banning all use of fireworks in North Georgia until the drought is over.

That ban includes Franklin, Hart, Stephens, Banks, Madison, and Elbert counties.

In that order a Level 1 Drought Declaration was also issued for 110 counties in North Georgia.

A Level 1 declaration requires public water systems to inform customers about the dry conditions and encourage conservation, though it doesn’t restrict water use.
