Hart BOC to Meet Tonight for First Session of 2017

Hart County Commissioners meet tonight for their first meeting of the new year.

The first order of business will be to choose a new County Commission chair.

Unlike Franklin County where the County Commission Chair is elected every four years by voters, the County Commission chair in Hart County is chosen from among the five commissioners by the commissioners themselves.

That Commissioner will then serve as the Commission Chairperson for the next calendar year.

New on the Board tonight will be newly-elected Commissioner Marshall Sayer who takes over the District 3 seat from former Commissioner Jim Carey who chose not to run for re-election.

In other business tonight, the Board will hear a presentation from a representative of Acculynk, Inc.

Then under Old Business, Commissioners are expected to discuss the Chestatee-Chattahoochee RC&D Board and amend the County’s contract with Legacy Link.

Under New Business, the board will discuss beverage vending machines in county buildings, paving on Old Elbert Road, and a request to bid an ambulance.

Tonight’s County Commission begins at 5:30p at the County Commission offices on Reed Creek Highway in Hartwell.
