Hart County Ushers In Summer With Music, Cars, Stars

Lake Hartwell2It is going to be a busy weekend in Hart County over the Memorial Day weekend with lots of fun events taking place downtown and all around the County.

Hartwell Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Henley Cleary says the weekend kicks off with the annual Cars and Guitars Under the Stars.

“The Chamber has their Cars and Guitars Under the Stars all day Saturday, the YMCA has their Century Bike Ride both Saturday and Sunday. You can still register and participate in that,” Cleary said.

Cleary says the Cars and Guitars event will be going on most of the day and is a great way to kick start your summer season.

“There will be close to 100 different antique cars all around the square downtown and there will also be live music and food vendors,” Cleary said. “That begins at 10a and will go until 2p.”

Then Cleary suggests enjoying some music at the Lake Hartwell Music Festival.

“That’s a great event out on LongPoint Park. The money raised from that goes to HYDRA, which is a wonderful program for children” she explained. “That begins at 1p and goes until 10p. They will have eight bands. And you can bring your coolers and lawn chairs. It’s $15 in advance or $20 at the gate. Kids under 10 are free. It’s going to be a fun evening.”

The Memorial Day weekend in Hart County rounds out Monday with a Memorial Day service at 11a on the Courthouse grounds in downtown Hartwell.

During the service, veterans will place wreaths at the war memorial monuments on the courthouse grounds.

Additionally, flags will placed on the graves of veterans at cemeteries throughout the County.

The service is open to the public.
