Jamie Amanda DowellA Hartwell woman is facing felony drug charges in Oconee County, SC.

“34- year old Jamie Amanda Dowell of 235 Emory Drive in Hartwell called a Sheriff’s deputy Wednesday afternoon and told him she had found a large amount of drugs and she didn’t know what to do with them,” said Oconee County Sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Watt.

Dowell then met with the deputy at a location in the southern part of Oconee County off I-85.  According to Watt, the deputy said Dowell appeared to be nervous during the meeting.

“He then saw a clear plastic bag hanging out from the bottom of Dowell’s shirt that the deputy said appeared to be methamphetamine,” Watt said.

Watt said Dowell told the deputies the drugs in her vehicle were dropped off at an address on West-Oak Highway in Oconee County, where deputies retrieved them.

The total amount of drugs recovered was around 1.4 ounces, with a street value of around $3,900. Around $511.00 in cash was also recovered.  Dowell was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 9:22pm Wednesday evening.

She is currently out on $50,000 bond.  The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation, Watt said.
