Hawks Forward Michael Scott Arrested in Banks County on Drug Charges

James michael scott Antwan scottThe  Atlanta Hawks will not comment on the arrest of forward Michael Scott Thursday in Banks County on drug charges.

Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer told the Atlanta Journal Constitution this morning they will not comment now, “out of respect for the legal process.”

According to Banks County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Carrissa McFaddin, the arrest of Scott and his brother came Thursday morning after a high-speed chase on I-85.

McFaddin said deputies tried to pull over a 2015 Chevy Tahoe on I-85 for a routine traffic stop near mile marker 154.

“As deputies attempted to make the traffic stop, the driver sped up to 98 mph and failed to stop for deputies. The driver continued for two miles and finally stopped near mile marker 156,” McFaddin said.

McFaddin said deputies the searched the vehicle and discovered a large quantity of pot.

“Deputies located over an ounce of Marijuana in the vehicle along with approximately 10.9 grams of MDMA (“Molly”),” she continued.

Arrested were the driver, identified as 20-year old Anton Imhotep Scott, of Acworth and the passenger, 27-year old James Michael Scott, of Smyrna.  Michael Scott is a forward for the Atlanta Hawks.

McFaddin said both face multiple charges.

“Both suspects were arrested and transported to Banks County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center,” McFaddin said. “Antonn Imhotep Scott was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement officers, following too close, felony possession of marijuana, and possession of schedule I. James Michael Scott was charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of schedule I drugs.”

Both Anton and Michael Scott went before a judge in Banks County Thursday night.  Bond was set at $8,100 for Michael Scott and $9,300 for Antonn Scott.  Both men have been released on bond.
