Investigation Into Weekend Rave Party Continues

More information on the rave party busted Friday night by Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies and a drug task force.

In an updated press release issued late Tuesday, Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas said the party took place at a home on Stone Bridge Road in Lavonia.

Thomas said over 50 underage teens were attending that party and as of Tuesday, 24 had been issued citations for possession of alcohol by a minor and six juvenile complaints had been completed.

Because they are minors, none of the teens’ names have been released and they have been released into the custody of their parents or guardians.

Thomas said Tuesday the teens came from Franklin, Hart, Stephens and Elbert counties and gathered Friday night in a large work shop behind the home of a couple who were away on vacation.

Thomas said the youngest teen was just 13 years old.  In addition to the alcohol, Thomas said deputies also found drugs.

“There were also drugs, cocaine, and mushrooms found at the party,” Thomas said. “The landowner was not there, they were on vacation, but there was a person of interest there that was over this party. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office has an investigation ongoing and they are expecting more arrests to be made.”

The name of the adult has not been released, but sources tell WLHR News, the individual in question is known by area teenagers for holding such parties for teens in the area.

Thomas said investigators also found a large quantity of stolen street signs and other items during their investigation.

Thomas said the investigation is continuing.
