Lavonia Tree Lighting Set for Tonight Downtown

The Christmas holiday season will officially kick off for folks in Lavonia tonight with the annual lighting of the Lavonia Christmas tree.

Tonight’s lighting takes place at 6p at the Gazebo on Main St. downtown.

Lavonia DDA Director Marie Morse said everyone is welcome to attend this fun holiday tradition that kicks off a month of holiday festivities.

“We can look forward special choir singing and complimentary hot chocolate and cookies,” Morse said.

The evening event also includes special holiday music.

Then coming up next Sunday, is the annual Lavonia Christmas Parade.

“Our Christmas parade is Sunday, December 6th,” Morse said. “That’s always an exciting time for everyone. It seems like every year the crowds get bigger.”

Then on December 11th is the Lavonia Christmas Festival on Main St. Downtown.

“This is time when we’ll have local vendors, we will also have a lot of great local entertainment, as well as horse and carriage rides, Santa’s workshop, Papa’s Little Choo Choo and several other suprises,” Morse explained.

Additionally, downtown shops and restaurants will be open late for people to enjoy and perhaps get some Christmas shopping done.

And throughout December, Morse said the local farmer’s market will be open every Saturday for their annual Christmas market.

Local growers will be featuring home-made, home-grown, and hand-made items for sale throughout the holiday season.
