Lawnmower Pull to Benefit FOP Chapter 105

Just a reminder about an important and fun fundraiser coming up this weekend to help local law enforcement make Christmas a little brighter for some children.

The Fraternal Order of Police Chapter 105 is putting on a lawn mower pull this weekend on Saturday in Dewy Rose.
If you have and even if you haven’t ever been to a lawn mower pull, you might want to check this one out tomorrow.
Money raised from the event will help fund this year’s Fraternal Order of Police Shop With a Cop event in December.
Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy Jeff Love is the Chapter’s Secretary and Treasurer.
Love says lawnmower pulls are not that different from tractor pulls – just smaller.
“The lawnmower pull is put on by the County Line Pullers, based upon Phil Barrymore with the Hart County Sherriff’s Office, and they do the lawnmower pull in relationship to a tractor pull or a truck pull, where they hook up to a sled, and pull down the track as far as they can, as the weights on the sled move forward and pull it to a halt. They measure the distance, and basically they are there for fun and to see who can come in first place in their particular classification of pull.”

Love said these riding lawnmowers come in all sizes and some have been modified to make them even stronger.
“They are going to have anything from a standard stock lawnmower, that looks like a lawnmower, to anything that would be a lawnmower frame that may have as much as a V-8 small block engine in it. I understand that there is one that will have a Ford 302. There are some folks coming in from Tennessee that are actually going to have an alcohol burning type engines, like a top fuel dragster.”

In addition to the actual lawnmower pull, there will be BBQ and Stew Plates available.
The pull begins at 3p Saturday, refreshments will be available beginning at noon.
Meantime, Love said applications for families who would like to have their child shop with a cop are now available at the Franklin and Hart County Sheriff’s office and here at 92.1 WLHR.
