North Georgia Tech to Expand Blairsville Campus

North Georgia Tech is expanding its Blairsville Campus.

The school announced it will hold a groundbreaking ceremony next Wednesday April 29 for the construction of a new Health Science building.

College spokesperson Kelly Jones tells WLHR News there have been no additions or renovations on the Blairsville campus since the original building opened in 1999.

Now, however, additional allied medical courses are needed and student numbers now dictate that space must be increased.

Because of the financial advantages of attending a local college and the changing economic environment, enrollment has grown and the college received funding for the addition.

With an eye toward future enrollment growth, the present building was designed to accommodate additional wings when course and student numbers dictated the need for increased space.

The creation of North Georgia Technical College’s Blairsville Campus in 1999 came as the result of concerted efforts by business and community leaders and elected officials to make post-secondary technical education available to the citizens of Towns, Union, and Fannin counties and the surrounding area.
