Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter to Hold April Rabies Clinic

AlyseAnne at 14As they do every year at this time, the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter is offering discounted rabies vaccines in April.

Their spring rabies clinic takes place Saturday, April 11th at the shelter on Bear Creek Road from 10a to 3p.

Shelter director Sheri Lockhart says this is a great way to make sure your animals are protected all season long.

“We’ll be offering one-year rabies for $5, three-year rabies for $10 and horse rabies vaccines for $15,” she said. “We’ll also be offering the FVRCP distemper vaccine for cats and DHLPP distemper/parvo vaccine for dogs for $7. Bring your animals out because we’re already seeing cases of rabies this year. We’ve had five rabies quarantines here at the shelter in the last three weeks.”

This year’s rabies clinic is part of the Shelter’s fundraising activities.  Over the past several years, the shelter’s spring rabies clinic has become more and more popular.

Lockhart said pet owners seem to be getting the message that an annual rabies vaccine for your dog or cat or horse is very important.

“It’s $5, it’s peace of mind to know your pets are protected if they’re attacked by a rabid animal,” she said. “We ask that you get here as early as possible because there’s always a wait if you come later.”

Again, the shelter’s annual rabies clinic takes place Saturday, April 11 10a to 3p at the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia.

The Shelter is located on Bear Creek Road in Lavonia off SR17.  You do NOT have to be a resident of Franklin County to take advantage of the rabies clinic.

The shelter will also hold a fall rabies clinic in October.
