Northeast Georgia Career Expo Today in Cumming

Job seekers in Northeast Georgia have excellent opportunities to get a job from among approximately 1,000 being offered by employers at a career expo in Forsyth County today.

The Northeast Georgia Career Expo, is being held today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lanier Technical College’s Forsyth Conference Center, 3410 Ronald Reagan Blvd. in Cumming.

The expo is designed to provide opportunities for employers and job seekers in the 13-county Northeast Georgia area, which includes Franklin, Hart, Stephens and Banks counties.

Sponsored by the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL), Lanier Technical College, and the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said over 60 employers will be on hand to take applications and speak with job seekers.

Butler said this could be your chance to land that next job.

“If you’re a job seeker, this is a golden opportunity,” he said. “A lot of companies only allow you to apply for a job online now. Sometimes you may never get a chance to get in front of a human being. Well today, this is your chance to get in front of a real human being who will be there representing their companies.”

Some of the major employers who will be on hand today include ACE Hardware, Baker Technical Services, Beall’s Outlet, Best Deal Movers, Chick-Fil-A, Comfort Systems USA Southeast, Coral Hospitality, Cost A Vida Fresh Mexican Grill, Costco Wholesale, Daly’s Truck Driving School, Department of Veterans Affairs, Hall County Department of Family and Children’s Services, Herzing University, Ricoh Electronics, Scientific Games International, Southern Crescent Behavorial Center, Sunglass Warehouse, The Villas at Willow Lake, Trugreen, Victory Process, WK Industrial Services, Wrigley’s, and Wells Fargo Bank.

Butler said job seekers should come prepared for interviews and with a positive outlook.

“Dress appropriately, have good eye contact and a good handshake,” Butler said. “Make sure you have a good resume with you.  Check it, to make sure you don’t have any spelling errors.  Be prepared to look and talk and make good conversation and show these employers why you would be a valuable team member for their company.”

Again, the job fair takes place today from 10a to 2p at Lanier Tech’s Forsyth Conference Center in Cumming.
