Officers Collecting Toys for Tots Today at Wilco Truck Stop

Officers with the Georgia Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division are collecting unwrapped toys and monetary donations at the Wilco Truck Plaza today from 11a to 1p.

Officers were out in force at Wilco on Wednesday until 4:30 collecting unwrapped toys.  Lt. Lee Robertson is heading up the campaign.

Robertson said another aspect of their holiday campaign includes offering free infant and child seat inspections.

“We will have the Toys for Tots donation box there. Any toys donated will be given to the local Toys for Tots program,” Robertson said. “We will also have technicians there and at the local Dollar General stores checking car seats free of charge and making sure the seats are installed correctly and children correctly secured.”

Robertson said toys and gifts for kids of all ages are needed, especially for older children in the 12 to teen age range.  The campaign finishes up today.  On Friday, the toys will be given to the local Toys for Tots representative for Northeast Georgia.

Again, officers are set up at the Wilco Truck Plaza off of Carnesville exit 166 on I-85 today from 11a to 1p.
