Overturned Tractor Trailer Backs Up Traffic on I-85

Traffic on I-85 SB is at a stand still after an 18-wheeler jack-knifed.

It happened about 10 this morning at mile marker 174 in the SB lane near the Franklin/Hart County line.  The truck landed on its side, crossing all lanes of I-85, trapping the driver inside the cab.

Lavonia Fire Department responded to the scene, along with the Franklin County Sheriff’s office and the Georgia State Patrol.

Traffic is being diverted off the Interstate at Exit 177 and detoured down SR59 through Lavonia.

No word yet on what caused the accident nor the condition of the driver.
