Prostitution Ring Broken Up in Banks Crossing

A Toccoa woman is one of eight individuals arrested in Banks County in a prostitution sting.

Banks County Sheriff’s spokesperson Carrissa McFaddin tells WLHR News Banks County Sheriff’s investigators conducted a prostitution operation at a cooperating local hotel in the Banks Crossing area last week.

According to Sheriff Carlton Speed the eight persons arrested are identified as 43-year old Tammy Latrell Carter of Commerce, 31-year old Christine Leann Thompson of Clarkesville, 29-year old Brian Cunningham of Gainesville, 24-year old Marteka Irby of Toccoa, 34-year old Kelly Nost of Portland, Delaware, 28-year old Jeffery Moore of union City, 35-year old Monico Antonio Harris of Athens and 25-year old Brianna Michelle Wimpy also of Athens.

Carter, Thompson, Nost and Wimpy are charged with pimping.

Cunningham, Irby and Moore are charged with possession of illegal drugs

And Harris is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

“Prostitution, pandering, or drugs will not be tolerated inside the county. Banks Crossing is a place for good people to eat, shop and rest for awhile,” Sheriff Speed said.”Our citizens and the business owners depend on the revenue brought in by the Banks Crossing businesses. Our continued special operations in the area will aid in preventing the exit from becoming like so many criminal infested exits along our interstate system.”
