Rabun Authorities Investigate Apparent Murder-Suicide

In Rabun County, investigators continue to look into what appears to be a murder-suicide that took place in two states.

It happened Wednesday.

Authorities say, the body of of 35-year-old Clyde Loudermilk was found Wednesday by some passersby just west of the Popcorn Overlook.

“We had got a call earlier about a BOLO on a person of interest in a homicide in South Carolina. A little after 11a we received a call of a person laying on the side of the road on SR76 west,” Rabun County Chief Investigator Jack Tanksley said.

Loudermilk had been wanted for questioning by Anderson County, SC authorities regarding the death of his wife, 33-year old Lisa Michelle Loudermilk.

Her body was found at the Loudermilk home in Belton Wednesday morning.

According to Anderson County authorities, Clyde Loudermilk had called relatives Wednesday morning and told them he had killed his wife during an argument and he was going to kill himself.

Loudermilk had also taken the couple’s three children and dropped them off with relatives in North Carolina Wednesday.

Loudermilk’s body was taken to the Rabun County Coroner’s office for autopsy.
