Royston Ball Field Dedication Now Set for Friday Evening

photo 1It finally looks like it will be perfect weather this weekend for the dedication of the newly renovated Royston Little League ball fields.

Royston Downtown Development Director Candy Rhoades said Monday, the fields will now be dedicated this Friday evening at 6p.  Three previous dates to celebrate the re-opening of the Joe T. Cunningham Ball Fields were rained out.

Royston Police Chief Donnie Boleman helped spearhead the renovations.  Boleman said some of the original founders of the ballfields 30 years ago will be on hand Friday to re-open the fields.

A big event is planned for Friday evening, according to Boleman and he said it is hoped everyone will be able to come on out to the ball game.

There will also be free hot dogs and drinks cooked up fresh by city council members for everyone to enjoy while they watch the two Little League games scheduled for Friday night.

The renovated fields include new baseball diamonds, bleachers, dugouts, new fencing and lighting, as well as a new concession stand and restrooms.
