Sen. Ginn Thanks Franklin BOC For Letting Him Run for Office

GinnFrank751State Senator Frank Ginn is thanking the Franklin County Board of Commissioners for allowing him to serve as the former County Manager.

At the board’s work session Ginn said he was making the statement on the anniversary of the death of his son who was killed five years ago in an ATV accident on their farm.

“I wanted to come and thank y’all for the opportunity I had to serve as the county manager here in Franklin County,” he said. “It’s difficult to come here tonight because today is the five-year anniversary of the night I went down the road at our family farm and found my son killed in our driveway. Without faith, friends and the Lord above giving me strength, I’m not sure I would have made it through that crisis. But I wanted to thank you all for giving me the faith to serve you all and serve the citizens of Georgia.”

Ginn said it was the Franklin County board who encouraged him to resign and run for the 47th State Senate District.

“When Ralph Hudgins told me he didn’t want to run anymore, but wanted to run for Insurance Commissioner, I couldn’t sleep that night,” he said. “When I made the decision that I wanted to run for Georgia Senate, I came to you all as a group. I remember Jeff Jacques said to me, ‘Frank, if you decide to run, you won’t just help us in Franklin County, but everyone all over the State,’ and I’ve tried to do that.”

As the State Senator from the 47th District, which includes Madison County and parts of Barrow and Athens-Clarke Counties, Ginn now serves on a number economic committees in the State Senate, including Secretary of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs committee, Chairman of the Economic Development Committee, and vice chair of the Regulated Industries and Utilities committee. He is also a member of the Natura Resources and the Environment Committe and Ex-Officio on the Transportation Committee.

Ginn was recently named as the new Executive Director of the Franklin County Industrial Building Authority.

Ginn said he hopes in his new role, he can help the county move forward.

“It’s been an honor and a privilege and I hope we can continue to move the state and our communities forward,” Ginn said. “I ask for your blessing and your faith in doing that.”

After speaking to the board, Commission members thanked him for his hard work on behalf of the county.
