Services Set for Memorial Day
This Memorial Day weekend, local communities are taking time to remember that this weekend is not about picnics and boating on the lake, but about remembering those who died in the service of their country.
On Thursday, the City of Royston held a pre-Memorial Day service at the Royston Main Street office downtown.
In Franklin County, veterans and members of the Lavonia American Legion will host a Memorial Day service on the courthouse grounds in Carnesville Monday morning at 8:30a.
A wreath will be laid at the war memorials at 9a.
On Monday, the American Legion Post 109 in Hart County will hose its annual Memorial Day service.
The service takes place at 11a Monday morning at the Hart County Courthouse.
During the service, veterans will place wreaths at the war memorial monuments on the courthouse grounds.
Additionally, flags will placed on the graves of veterans at cemeteries throughout the County.
