St. Mary’s to Offer EMS Safety Seminar

stmarys-logo2Local first responders and paramedics in Franklin, Hart and Stephens counties will want to take advantage of an upcoming EMS seminar sponsored by St. Mary’s Healthcare.

Their EMS Update takes place Wednesday, November 2nd from 9a to 3p at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens.

St. Mary’s spokesman Mark Ralston tells WLHR News the program will provide continuing education that is immediately useful for paramedics and emergency medical technicians in the field.

Ralston said some of the topics to be covered include:

Obstetric emergencies, presented by Ruth Cline, M.D., Athens OB/GYN
HAZMAT emergencies, presented by Capt. John Scarborough, Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Services
Stress in EMS and public safety, presented by Chaplains Marc Lhowe and Steve Bauer, St. Mary’s Health Care System
STEMI case review, presented by Clay Chappell, M.D., Oconee Heart and Vascular Center
Assessment of the older adult, presented by Farris Johnson, Jr., M.D., Johnson and Murthy Family Practice

The event is free to qualified providers.

Up to 5 continuing education credits (CEUs) will be available.

Free parking will be provided in the hospital’s Lot B beside the main entrance off Baxter Street.
