Three People Faces Charges in Toccoa

Three people face charges after a call to police leads to a search warrant at a Toccoa residence.

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell says officers were called to an Argo Street residence just before 3:30 a.m. Monday about a fight in progress.
“When officers arrived they made contact with three individuals in the home. While investigating the call for the fight, officers were able to discover drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain view, ” said Jarrell

Jarrell says Sergeant Hamp Cross then instructed officers to secure the residence and he went and obtained a search warrant to investigate further.
“A search of the residence resulted in the recovery of suspected oxy-condone, MDMA or ecstasy, bags of suspected marijuana, bags of suspected powered cocaine, and crack cocaine. In addition to the drugs we also recovered a .22 rifle with a drum style magazine that holds one hundred rounds of ammunition, and we seized $807 in cash. Police also located items commonly associated with the package and selling of illegal drugs, “said Jarrell.

Police identified the three people arrested as 27-year-old Evstavious Dequa Smith, 28-year-old Tyqeizz Fre’shun Banks, and 19-year-old Lindsey Camille Jones.

All three are charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Banks and Jones are also charged with obstruction of an officer and banks faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Jarrell says all three suspects were taken to Stephens County Jail for processing.

He says the investigation is ongoing and police hope to make additional arrests in connection to this case.
