Two Injured in Monday Night Wreck

Authorities say charges are pending against a driver who caused a wreck in Lavonia Monday night.

It happened about 7:30p Monday on State Route 17 near Grady School Road.

Georgia State Patrol Hartwell Post Commander Sergeant Scott Andrews said a vehicle traveling north on 17 crossed into oncoming traffic.

“It appears that vehicle 1, which was the at-fault vehicle, was traveling northbound on Georgia 17 and for unknown reasons crossed the center line into the southbound lane and traveled onto the southbound shoulder. Vehicle 1 then re-entered the southbound lane and was struck by vehicle number 2,” Andrews said.

Andrews said vehicle one was driven by a 19-year old male who was seriously injured.

That driver was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital where his condition is not known.

The driver of the second car was a 50-year old female who was also injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The names of both drivers have not yet been released and the investigation is continuing.

We will have more information on this accident as details become available.
