Christmas is getting closer and the holiday-themed events continue

With Christmas just 10 days away, there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season. Some of those are happening this weekend.

The Jingle Bell 5K/1 mile Fun Run will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16 at Hart County High School. The 5K will start at 8 a.m. and the fun run will start at 9 a.m. For more information visit www.jinglebellfamily5k.com.

The Cross Creek Toy Run, which was originally scheduled for last weekend, will take place this Saturday. The ride start at The Creek Church on Highway 17 in Royston with registration at 11 a.m. and kickstands up at noon. Men should bring a $10 boys toy and women should bring a $10 girls toy. Chili will be on sale after the ride.

The American Legion Post 109 will host a Wreaths Across America ceremony from noon until 1 p.m. The event will take place at Nancy Hart Memorial Cemetery in Hartwell.

The Hart Community Chorus will host a Holiday Singalong at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church from 3-4 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free to the public and the church is located on Fairview Avenue in Hartwell.

Harmony Grove Missionary Baptist Church will host their annual Christmas Banquet on Saturday from 6-7 p.m. The banquet will take place at the Royston Housing Authority building on Hartwell Highway in Royston. The public is invited to attend.

The ever-popular Montevideo Christmas Parade will take place Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m.

Liberty Hill Baptist Church will present “Come Let Us Adore Him” on Sunday during the 11 o’clock hour. The church is located on Highway 145.

“Christmas On The Evening News Hour” will be presented by The Way Church on Sunday at 6 p.m. This play tells the Christmas Story through the eyes of an evening news show and involves the audience in singing many classic Christmas hymns. Following the presentation the WAYUTH will be serving refreshments. There is no admission charge and the public is invited to attend. The Way Church is located at 1332 Airline-Goldmine Road.

The Franklin Community Players announced today that their First Annual Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair, scheduled for Saturday, December 16th and Sunday, December 17th, at the Lavonia Cultural Center, has been postponed.  The group plans to reschedule the Arts & Crafts Fair for Spring, 2018.  Details will be announced at a later date.
